Bruit – Group for Music Creation brings together both performers and improvising musicians and is dedicated to music creation that manifests in different constellations and groups of variable geometry. The ensemble explores sonic and musical territories at the crossroads of composition and improvisation, combining acoustic and electronic sounds and challenging conventional categories. In addition to commissioning new works from contemporary composers, Bruit – Group for Music Creation also highlights rarely performed pieces by seminal figures from the 20th and 21st centuries.
Alongside a core group of regular musicians, Bruit invites top-level performers and improvisers, internationally recognized and members of prestigious ensembles such as Collegium Novum Zürich, Basel Sinfonietta, Ensemble Contrechamps, and Šalter Ensemble. Artistic direction is led by Jonas Kocher and/or Gaudenz Badrutt, with occasional contributions from guest musicians.
