DDK trio was founded in 2014 by Jacques Demierre at the Festival Météo in Mulhouse. The trio brings together Jacques Demierre (piano), Axel Dörner (trumpet), and Jonas Kocher (accordion).
For over a decade, DDK trio has developed a singular artistic language — one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary creative music today. Their expressive range spans from near-silence to massive acoustic eruptions, always shaped with exacting precision in the articulation of musical discourse. Rooted entirely in the moment, their music stands firmly within the tradition of instant composition.
The trio has performed extensively throughout Europe, Japan, Russia, and Canada. In 2019 and 2020, they collaborated with the Contrechamps ensemble in Geneva and at the Venice Music Biennale, and in 2023 with the GGRIL ensemble in Rimouski, Quebec. Their latest album, A Right to Silence, released in 2023 on the Japanese label Meenna, was named one of the favorite albums of the year by Swiss national radio station RTS. In 2026, they collaborated with Japanese artist Sachiko M.
