Manoir Bruit is the sound creation programme of association Bruit, in collaboration with Haus am Gern and Château de Sibra.
From 6 to 14 October 2026, Biel/Bienne-based sound artist Estelle Beiner is artist-in-residence at Manoir Bruit in Sibra, France, as the eigth guest of the programme. The title for her residence is ALCHIMIE.
ALCHIMIE
During this residency, my work will focus on exploring the four elements – Earth, Air, Fire and Water – which are essential not only on Earth, but also in alchemical transmutation. They always enable us to transmute and transcend darkness to find light, gold and peace. A reconnection with the world and with oneself.
The research will explore how to convey the sonic textures of these elements through my violin, and how these sounds can evolve, develop, twist and turn, delving into darkness to find light.
I will draw inspiration from the sounds of nature in this location and will also draw on a sound archive recorded in Biel/Bienne, in the Canyon Taubenloch, in September 2026.
This residency will also enable me to bring together the three pillars of my life: music, meditation and channelled energy – a powerful combination that aligns with alchemy and concrete, emotional transmutation. Everything is linked; everything is connected.
