Manoir Bruit is the sound creation programme run by association Bruit, in collaboration with Haus am Gern and Château de Sibra.
Last week, from 14 to 21 September 2024, composer and sound artist Annette Schmucki spent time as the second artist-in-residence at Manoir Bruit (Sibra, France), developing sounds and creating a piece of music. The result can be heard temporarily via the Locus Sonus livestream (and later on on the Bruit webpage) – mixed with the surrounding sounds in the park of the Chateau de Sibra. Of course, Annette’s work can also be heard there, right on site – in and around the Manoir Bruit.
Check out the livestream to listen to Annette Schmuckis work!

60′
it is a kind of litany of 8 speaking loops of different lengths.
the loops contain field names that circle the cabin.
the loops also contain footsteps from the castle to the
cabin in the rough september grass.
the steps are adapted to the speaking voice and degenerate into trashy sound/rhythm
patterns.
in addition, a recording right next to the cabin serves as a sometimes swelling ground. birds, corrugated iron cracking, a few foot steps, quiet machine noise. and there are four inserts: refuge, cabane, dchutzhütte, verhau.
the narrator of the circles of field names is called fatira. she works in the castle.
this piece is for her.

the piece is conceivable/meant as a simple sound installation.
eight or nine sound sources distributed in the room.
the step patterns would mix very well with the steps of the wandering listeners.
the sound sources could be very quiet. like hiding places.
