Workshop with Joke Lanz

The Art of Noise
The body’s energy is an extremely important component of musical performance and artistic expression. We experiment at the intersection of improvised music and noise and draw from a broad background of industrial, dada, fluxus, punk, free jazz music and we playfully mix performative elements with improvisation and repetitive structures. We experiment not only with our own instrument, but also with texts, images, sound generators, found sounds, smartphones and anything else that produces sound or silence. We explore loops, cut-ups, noise and unconventional ways of playing.
